V-Bay Festival: Keeping it Local

Whilst taking a stroll around town mid-week we popped into Bizzy Lizzy’s to have a chat with Linda Chester, who is also the Chair of the Ventnor Business Association, about developments with the forthcoming V-Bay Festival running 23-25 October, 2009.

V-Bay Festival: Keeping it LocalWe were really encouraged to hear that, behind the scenes, there has been loads of organisation taking place and it’s sounding like it’s going to be a great things for the town and visitors.

Showcasing Ventnor to the Island (and beyond)
Linda was keen to point out that the main purpose of the V-Bay festival is to showcase all the great stuff that Ventnor has to offer, while encouraging people to pass between the Esplanade and the main town.

The festival will feature a fabulous lineup of entertainment for all the family; live music around the town and on the seafront; a hospitality competition; games on the beach; art exhibitions; pitches by local groups on the beach as well as a gourmet food competition and even prizes for the best dressed mobility scooter.

Linda told us that they had been doing lots of research about the old “smuggler’s festival” and hoped to follow a similar theme.

Shops open on Sunday and live music
All businesses in Ventnor are being encouraged to stay open over the weekend and Sunday will see a variety of live music being played in shops and cafes around the town.

We’ll bring you more details when we have them. In the meantime, if you’re interested in getting involved in anyway, be it to help out or have a pitch on the beach, do get in touch with Jackie from Tilly’s on 01983 852284.
