The plans were approved following a rigorous application and inspection process and come with the support of academics and specialists in the area of chronic pain conditrions.
The go ahead mean the green light for up to 60 new jobs on the Island.
Based in the West Wight
The Cannabis farm will be based in the West Wight, making it one of just a few approved locations in the UK to legally cultivate specific strains of cannabis.
Nor surprisingly, the entire research facility will be fenced, highly secured and monitored.

It’s been agreed as part of Research and Development plans for the treatment of Fibromyalgia and other Neuroinflammation conditions.
Included on the scientific advisory board is Dr Gary Lee from The Future Clinic, a specialist in chronic pain conditions, based on Cowes.
Researching therapeutic and analgesic potential of cannabinoids
Vecticanna say their primary focus will be on researching the therapeutic and analgesic (pain relief) potential of cannabinoids and full spectrum cannabis extracts, whilst simultaneously increasing their availability for patients and end consumers.
Led by Island resident
Vecticanna is headed up by Isle of Wight resident Adam Mawer.
Adam says he’s passionate about the Isle of Wight and Island businesses and believes that “combining the local rich agricultural heritage into this emerging marketplace is a sure-fire recipe for success”.
