Vectis Astronomy Society invite Islanders to Hands-on Evening of Astronomy: an Open Evening to showcase their refurbished observatory dome and the newly-purchased telescope and camera equipment, through the generous support of a grant from WightAid.
What to expect
- Watch guided Night Sky tours
- Ask questions in a Q&A session
- Follow a Beginners Stargazing presentation
- Learn about Astro-Photography in the dome.
Outside
Get your coat on and get ready to:
- Participate in Astronomy with our binoculars (and bring your own).
- View Planets and Deep Sky objects (with various telescope sizes/styles).
In the Pavilion
- Astronomy games and activities for every age.
Where and when
The Open Evening takes place in the Observatory on Friday 28th November, between 7.30pm and 9pm at Watery Lane, Newchurch PO36 0LX.
Members available as guides and to answer questions. Please arrive at start time of 7.30pm for the Opening Presentation.
Tickets in advance please £2.50 per person
Wrap up warm. Bring a torch (and binoculars if you have them),
Refreshments will be available. In the event of rain the Open Evening will be cancelled.
