Vectis Historic Vehicle Club hosts charity car show to support local organisations

Vectis Historic Vehicle Club is holding a car show in support of Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Ability Dogs For Young People and you can be there too, on Sunday, 6th July, 2025.

It will take place at the Isle of Wight County Showground at Northwood, between 10am and 4pm.

Entry is £5 for everyone aged seventeen and over. Children aged 0-16 years old are free.

What to expect
Expect a bouncy castle and a Viking re-enactment, courtesy of Island-based historic group, Wolfguard.

At 11am, the Vectis Corps of Drums will perform. A raffle will offer prizes including a stay at a hotel in Freshwater and attraction passes.

There will be food and, from midday, live music on site too. A host of other vehicles will also be exhibiting.

The Isle of Wight High Sheriff, Jacqueline Gazzard will be at the show at midday, while Councillor Karl Love will judge the entries.

Vectis Historic Vehicle Club
The Vectis Historic Vehicle Club has been running since 1973 and it has over 270 members.

The club’s committee meets regularly at Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s John Cheverton Centre community space and cafe in Newport and its members showcase vehicles from the 1920s to the current day.

Each year, the club hosts an open day and it has so far raised many thousands for Island-based charities, including a whopping £50,000 for Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

A family-inclusive show
From the club, Linda De Bues, said,

“This year we wanted to expand the show, to make it more family-inclusive.

“The children of today are tomorrow’s custodians of these beautiful cars.

“We have supported Mountbatten Isle of Wight for two decades because we recognise the value of its end-of-life care.

“For 12 years, we have supported Ability Dogs for Young People, since they came to visit us during a club meeting.

“The first dog we funded was a poodle called Jack, who is named in honour of our former president.”
