Vectis Holdings reveal plans for Blackgang Viewpoint car park

Readers may remember that back in May, On The Wight revealed the Isle of Wight council were planning to sell off Blackgang viewpoint car park.

You may also remember that at the time, council chief executive, Steve Beynon, flatly refused to answer legitimate questions surrounding the sale of the car park.

Later in the year (July) we revealed that the special purchaser was Vectis Holdings Limited (owners of Blackgang Chine).

A Delegated Decision report has been released by the council today (Friday), seeking approval for the council to negotiate with Vectis Holdings Limited as a special purchaser for the Blackgang viewpoint car park.

The paper reveals that Vectis Holdings Limited has plans to combine the car park with its adjacent land and to develop an information centre as a showcase for the location and the Island, together with a catering facility for the benefit of tourists and Island residents alike.
