Vectis Motocross Club Championship Rounds 3 & 4

Thanks again to Andy for sending through this report from last week’s championships. Ed

Corve Farm, Chale Green, hosted a very well attended, full weekend of racing in ideal conditions; the promised bad weather never materialising.

After many days of torrential rain, the sun shone on rounds three and four of our Championship. The pits were full, nearly to overflowing. It was good to see so many mainland racers making the journey over, many for the first time.

Saturday started, unsurprisingly, with a muddy track, but this soon started drying with the sun and wind on it.

The Adults Open Class saw some fast and furious racing with Lloyd Nightingale once again trying to take a clean sweep of wins. Unfortunately for him there were a growing number, including Scott Webb, Will Reynolds and Mitch Young, who were determined to stop him! Scott taking one of Lloyds wins from him to retain second place, recovering quickly from a fall.

The MX1 race of the larger engine capacity bikes brought the three usual suspects to the top places.

The teenagers in the 85cc capacity races all fought hard for their places, with Dan Hazlewood taking a clean sweep of wins from Josh Corbett.

Sunday saw much drier track conditions and more sun, but still a strong wind gusting across the higher jumps.

A change of fortune for Lloyd saw Scott Webb take the winners spot in Round 4’s Adult Open Class. Will Reynolds earning his second place overall, despite a very bad start in race 2 that saw him last to leave the line.
