Many thanks to Jane Garner for sending in news of how Ventnor’s children did in the Primary School Island Games at the weekend. Congratulations to the Ventnor team who came second! Ed
I thought it would be nice for Ventnor to hear how well their young children did on Saturday at the first Primary School Island Games.
Held at Sandown High School, with schools all over the Island taking part it was a very exciting day for all the children involved. The purpose of the event was to raise children and young people’s awareness of the International Island Games coming to the Isle of Wight in 2011.
Six teams took part, West Wight (Gibralter), Sandown Bay (Caymens), Ventnor (Greenland), Cowes (Menorca), Rydelink Area (Rhodes) and Ryde (St.Helena). Ventnor teams was made up of children from Niton, Chale, Godshill, St.Boniface, St.Margarets, St.Wilfreds and Wroxall schools.
After a very exciting day of athletics, girls football, basketball, tennis, tag rugby and netball, Ventnor team came second overall (only behind Ryde) What a fab result!
All parents had a lovely day too, the rain held off and the event was well organised with many teachers giving up their Saturday.
