Come next Saturday, Ventnor should be buzzing with activity and hopefully lots of visitors from around the Island.
This is because Saturday 8th December is when the work of several Ventnor businesses comes to fruition and we see the Ventnor Christmas Fun Day.
Organised by Wendy (Thistle Cafe) and Kim (Fish & Chip shop), the day promises lots of fun for the kids and entertainment for the big kids (that’s you and I).
There’ll be all sorts of activities going on around town in the shops, as well as down at the Winter Gardens and the Baptist church. There will eve be marques setup in Spring Hill where you can find all manner of things from arts and crafts, Christmas decorations, local produce etc.
On the entertainment front, we hear that Rev Morris will be placing himself outside the Troubadour cafe and knocking out suitably festival tunes on his organ. The Ventnor Guitar Group will be showing us what their seven odd grand grants money can produce and firestarter Matt Splatt and his merry band of Ryde Extreme performers.
Hose Rhodes and Dickson will be converting their offices into Santa’s Grotto and kiddies can make a visit to pick up a free gift from Santa.
If you’re lucky on the raffle normally, make sure you buy some tickets on the day. Ventnor Mayor Susan Scoccia will be picking out the winners at 3pm and a little later at about 6ish there will be a grand finale of fireworks donated by the Gibbs/Mortimer families and St Catherine’s School.
There’s probably lots that I’ve forgotten to include, if you have more info, just add a comment by clicking on the comments link above.
