Ventnor community unites to combat child poverty through Better Days Cafe’s GoFundMe campaign

Last updated:

Almost £1,000 has been raised through a GoFundMe appeal to feed Ventnor’s children during the upcoming school holidays.

According to the End Child Poverty Coalition, more than a third of children on the Isle of Wight (34.2 per cent) are living in poverty, many with both parents working, but not able to make ends meet.

Free breakfast club
Throughout the summer holidays Better Days Cafe in Ventnor will be offering a breakfast club from 10am to 11.30am every day.

Founder of the cafe, Kirsty Chapman, explained to News OnTheWight,

“We’re able to do this thanks to donations to our GoFundMe page. The public are amazing.”

There’ll be a selection of cereals, toast and juice.

Packed lunches
Kirsty went on to say,

“In addition we will offer a packed lunch for any child. Any age. With no referral or restrictions.”
