With so many creative peeps in Ventnor, it’s not surprising that there’s a Digital Arts Club being run in town each week.
Anyone with basic computer skills looking to master or improve their video, music and digital graphics skills can join the classes or pop along to the drop in sessions.
Mischa Giancovich runs the Friday classes (and Sat drop in sessions) covering digital graphics and animations. Andy Jones collaborates with the Saturday sessions, his expertise being with the music packages. Both tutors are experienced, friendly and very approachable.
Software packages covered on the course include Adobe Photoshop, the number one graphics tool that allows you to create graphics from scratch and manipulate images/photos. Adobe After Effects encompasses motion graphics and visual effects for film, video, DVD, and the Web and Apple imovie allows you to capture, edit and create movies at the touch of a button.
On the music front, Andy Jones will take you through a variety of packages including Reason 3.0, Recycle “The Ultimate Toolkit for Sampled Grooves”, Apple Garage Band and Ableton 5 which all will allow you to perform, record and create your own music.
So come on all you budding artists and musicians, young or old, join in the creative jam that takes place every week at the Youth and Community Centre. These courses are supported by Ventnor Neighbourhood Learning, and therefore priced at the jaw-droppingly affordable £2 (wow, that’s value for you … a photoshop course alone on the mainland will set you back at least £350).
Fridays classes run between 1 – 4pm and 5-8pm
Saturday drop in sessions run between 12-2pm for 13 to 19 year olds, and 2-4pm for over 19s
