Isle of Wight artist Kathy Williams has the go-ahead for an art installation at La Falaise shelter, Ventnor in time for this year’s Ventnor Fringe Festival.
The work will be fuelled by the public’s ideas about shelter, safety, belonging and protection and Kathy will combine your paintings into a final installation.
Kathy uses paint on transparent materials and creates 3d paint-ings … paintings that are sculpture, installation, painting…all in one. She often asks the public to take part in her work, and for her Place of Safety project, Kathy says your ideas and input are imperative.
Informal workshops
Kathy has created a series of informal workshops that people can drop into, to chat and find out about painting shapes and emotions – paintings that will feed into the final display.
It is hoped there will be so many people involved that we will be able to exhibit peoples paintings in windows all through Ventnor itself, making an art trail all of its own.
