Here’s an interesting story for any foodie fans on the Island.
Followers of ‘Delia Online’ may already be aware of the Rapeseed Oil Cookery Challenge that took place at the end of last year.
As part of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board’s (HGCA) Rapeseed Oil campaign, visitors to the site were invited to send in their rapeseed oil recipes, be they for use in roasting, salads, stirfy or baking.
Well, we hear that entry made by Cecelia Allen from Ventnor came top in the salad category.
Cecelia managed to woo the judges with her original rapeseed oil recipe for ‘Oriental Salad Dressing’.
As well as enjoying the accolade of runner up prize we hear that Cecelia also walked away from the prize giving (held in February) with £125 worth of Le Creuset cooking equipment.
Well done Cecelia, perhaps we’ll see your recipe being used in some of our fantastic Ventnor restaurants.
