Ventnorians Go Orange for Independent Lifeboats

Sandown and Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat (SSIL) have been rallying support from businesses in Ventnor for Go Orange Day.

OrangeFriday 18th February sees the national campaign for Independent Lifeboats take place and as we’ve previously mentioned, the Island will be no exception.

Rob Fallows, a fairly new recruit at SSIL has been in touch with details of how businesses are planning to show their support.

Support the supporters
The Island Wine Company will be holding informal wine tastings of great value everyday, wines featuring winter warming reds on Friday and Saturday in return for a £1 donation per person.

Besty and Spinky at the Ventnor Bay Cafe on the seafront will be dressing up hoping to raise awareness and funds for the Sandown & Shanklin Lifeboats.

The Central Tap (opposite the car park) will be holding a coffee and cake morning and The Island Deli are also taking part in the fundraising and will have special offers on during the day. Pop in to find out more.

Collections outside Co-Op
We also hear that two strapping members of the SSIL crew will be outside Co-Op all day on Friday with their collection buckets.

Even the young in Ventnor will be getting involved with pupils at St Francis holding a MUFTI day in aid of Go Orange and Ventnor Middle doing their bit too.

Well done to everyone taking part across the Island. Inshore Rescue services are vital to the safety of those using the sea, especially in areas not covered by the RNLI such as Ryde, South Wight and Freshwater.
