Cantina with Dita and Adam inset

Ventnor’s Cantina reopening in September – with new owners

Dita Kristopaviciute and her partner, Adam Edmunds, will be taking on Ventnor’s Cantina from September 2021.

The popular bakery and cafe has been closed this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, but after being a vital part of the town’s economy for over a decade, owner, Klaus Kuhnke, has decided to pursue new interests.

Dita will be a familiar face for those visiting the premises from September, as she has helped run the bakery and cafe for several years.

Carrying on the legacy of great service and home cooked food
The cafe started life on Ventnor’s seafront in 2012 and moved up to the High Street in 2013.

Dita told News OnTheWight,

“We are truly excited taking on Cantina and carry on the legacy of great service and home-cooked food in casual dinning experience.

“Cantina has always had a special place in our hearts so we are delighted to be involved even more. We can’t wait to welcome you all soon!”

Stripped Lease on the market
Klaus, who also owns Stripped (the burger and pizza restaurant in the old HSBC building), has put that restaurant on the market with Gully Howard.

Anyone taking on the £20,000 per annum Lease will have the benefit of a commercial kitchen already in place.

Klaus has other business interests on the mainland, including Artisan Foods at Borough Market and The German Deli, but says that he will continue to have his base in Ventnor.
