In a major change of position, Vestas have provided food to their employees that are carrying out the sit-in in their building in Newport. Previously they haven’t been allowing food in, leading to a number of arrests when people have tried to get food to them.
Vestas have told the protesters that they will not allow others to provide food to them, but they will do it themselves.
We’ve just spoken to one of the protesters on the inside, Mike, who told us that sandwiches have been provided by the company this morning and that combined with the rally last night has “raised morale 110%.”
Isle of Wight police have issued a statement this morning saying that they weren’t stopping food going into the site.
