We’ve just called into the Vestas sit-in for the latest update and spoke to Mike.
He told us they were in extra good spirits having just received food from those outside, following a peaceful mass walk-in by their supporters outside.
UPDATE: Matt Tracey, BBC Solent, (Thanks!) tells us that the 20 or so people who walked up couldn’t be stopped by the small number of police that were there, the continued walking past the private security people who were there who simply put their hands up. The supporters walked about them.
Bags of food were thrown up to them as well as attached to a rope and hoisted up to the balcony.
Seemingly in response to that, Vestas are now erecting a fence around the building, stopping further food deliveries.
UPDATE: As the final sections of fence were being put up, there was another attempt to get more food in, but this was less successful.
Mike was keen to send out thanks to the Island’s Firemen who collected the money for the food.
Previous attempts were made last night to get food in.
