Renowned Isle of Wight Comedian, Luc Valvona brought home first prize on Tuesday (11th June 2024) at the Chichester Fringe New Act of the Year competition.
Performing as his alter ego, Baron Fortitude: Victorian Rapper, Luc drew the biggest reaction of the night and had the sold out crowd roaring with laughter.
First prize and audience favourite vote
The competition was hosted and judged by incredibly funny professional comedian, Paul Cox, who regularly appears on TV, along with feedback from the audience.
Luc not only won first prize, but also the audience favourite vote.
Baron Fortitude can next be seen at the Isle of Wight Festival, performing on the Cirque de la Quirk stage, and will also be bringing his hour long, sold out Brighton Fringe Show to Ventnor Fringe in July.
Valvona: “It’s great to finally have an accolade”
Luc is also the founder of the Isle of Wight School of Comedy and co-founder and regular performer of Ballyrags Comedy Club in Ryde. He said,
“It’s great to finally have an accolade to make it sound more legit! Comedy classes taught by award-winning comedian, sounds a lot better than taught by someone who knows his stuff, has a lot of experience, but never had any success!”
One of the biggest IW comedy nights
The Ballyrags nights are fast becoming the biggest comedy nights on the Island with TV headliners such as Tony Law and Angelos Epithemiou, every third Thursday at FuBar in Union Street, with the next one taking place on 18th July.
The Comedy Classes are on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings also at FuBar, and all the info is on the Isle of Wight School of Comedy Facebook page.
