Ventnor-based photographer, Julian Winslow, turned his hand away from his usual artistic shots yesterday, to video the extraordinary scenes down on Ventnor beach.
As you can see from the video below, the waves were pounding the beach – in stark contrast to the beautiful Boxing day swim this year – crashing on the Esplanade wall, towering 20 feet in the air, showering the vehicles parked there – and occasionally the people unlucky enough to be near by.
Danger of the waves
Julian was at a safe distance from the dangerous waves to shoot the video, but he passed on some word of warning,
“Something I would say is I had to warn at least three people who pulled up to walk along there with small children. A really really bad plan. If you ended up in the water you wouldn’t have had a chance.”
