Volunteer-led Hullabaloo team take a pause to bring event back in 2024 better than ever

The Hullabaloo Team have announced that this year they’ll be pausing the event that usually takes place in May.

It was estimated that more than 3,000 people visited Hullabaloo in October 2022. Almost 90 organisations, artists, performers, experts and individuals took part across the Makers Spaces, HullaBulloo Greens, Discovery Bay Marquee, Talks Tent and Community Resilience Tent.

The entire event was supported by dozens of volunteers from organisation and marshalling, dance and cake-making to supporting squirrels and seagrass or clearing fallen trees and litter-picking the Willow Walk prior to kick-off.

However, the team say they need time to explore more sustainable funding solutions for the event, so will be pausing this year.

They said,

“We have taken the difficult decision to pause this year’s event.

“We are a volunteer led team who care passionately about this free family event and the positive impact it has on the community of Sandown.

“We want to spend the year developing the event and exploring longer-term funding options to give Hullabaloo a sustainable future.

“We will be reaching out to the community, listening to your views of how we can improve Hullabaloo and make it even better for our return.

“We will be back in 2024 and we can’t wait to see you there!”
