Shademakers are bringing their spectacular performance of The Queen’s Beasts made for the Platinum Jubilee Pageant to headline Newport Carnival this Saturday (23rd July) and you could be part of it.
As part of the Northern Ireland section of the menagerie of creatures parading down the high street, Shademakers are looking for people to be part of the giant 15m snake that weaves its way through the streets.
How to take part
If you are interested in being part of this and helping celebrate Newport’s 100th anniversary carnival, come along to the free Carnival Dance workshop on Saturday at 2-3pm at The Island VI Form (Playground), Nodehill, Newport PO30 1LJ
Discovery Touch Tours
Shademakers are also offering Discovery Touch Tours of The Queen’s Beasts costumes ahead of their performance at Newport Carnival.
This gives an opportunity for audiences to get up close to these fantastic creations, learn how they were made and experience what it feels like to wear one in the parade!

The Tours and Workshop are free to attend but you need to book in advance.
