Islanders are being asked to avoid ‘sightseeing’ the void that has appeared by the verge on the road between Compton and Freshwater.
The Isle of Wight council announced the closure of footpath F35 at the end of last week due to a void appearing by the southern carriageway.
Jarman:
Councillor Chris Jarman told News OnTheWight,
“We have seen many ‘sightseers’ by foot and by car coming to see the void, with up to three cars parked at a time on the verge, including a delivery van.
“This is a dangerous part of road and I would strongly advise against walking along the road or parking on the verge just to see the latest void.”
