Deaths
The Office for National Statistics report four new deaths took place, 1 in a care home and 3 in hospital during week 17 (deaths that occurred up to 29th April 2022, but were registered up to 7th May 2022).
As of 29th April, the cumulative number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate on the Isle of Wight was 422 – up 4 in the last week.
As of 12th May 2022, the Government Dashboard records the total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test was 395 – up 7 since last week.
Covid patients in hospital
The Covid dashboard shows that as of 10th May the number of Covid-19 patients in hospital was 14.
The Government dashboard also reports that 1 of those Covid patients is relying on mechanical ventilation.
Vaccinations
The number of Covid-19 vaccinations given on the Isle of Wight totals 314,219 (lower than last week’s 314,227).
The total number of people who have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 26th April 2022 was 113,745 (was 113,780 last week).
The total number of people who have received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 26th April 2022 was 108,808 (was 108,825 last week).
The total number of people who have received a booster or third dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 26th April 2022 was 91,666.
Confirmed positive cases
The latest confirmed data for the number of new positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) tests over seven days (5th-11th May) on the Isle of Wight totals 80 – a rate per 100,000 population of 56.74.
Six of those are thought to be reinfections (ie. people who have had Covid before and caught it again).
The cumulative total since the pandemic began now stands at 40,401 – a rate per 100,000 population of 28,653.19.

Symptoms
The main symptoms of Coronavirus are:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Other symptoms linked with Covid-19 include shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of appetite, muscle ache, sore throat, headache, stuffy or runny nose, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. Any of these symptoms may also have another cause.
