West Wight Sports and Community Centre is delighted to announce that its popular Eco Refill scheme, now celebrating twelve months at the Centre, has raised a further £1,000.
This milestone continues to highlight the scheme’s growing impact and its valuable contribution to the local community.
A year of sustainable shopping
The volunteer-led initiative, based in the Centre’s cafe, enables residents to refill their containers with eco-friendly household and personal care products.
By reducing single-use plastic and encouraging sustainable habits, the scheme offers an easy way for people to support both the environment and a local cause.
Volunteers and community praised
Clare Griffin, Manager of West Wight Sports and Community Centre, said,
“We are incredibly grateful to the dedicated volunteers who run the Eco Refill scheme. Their commitment, along with the continued support from our community, has made this achievement possible.
“Every refill purchased helps us to reinvest back into the Centre and the services we provide.”

Gina Maliphant, Lead Volunteer for Eco Refill, added,
“It’s been fantastic to see how the community has embraced the ethos behind Eco Refill. People are really getting behind the idea that we can all do our bit to reduce our carbon footprint and live more ecologically.
“Every small change adds up, and together we’re making a real difference.”
Funds support swimming lessons
Funds raised through the scheme are reinvested directly into West Wight Sports and Community Centre.
The latest contribution will support swimming lessons for children from financially struggling households, helping to ensure more young people can access vital life skills.
How to get involved
Eco Refill sessions take place in the cafe at West Wight Sports and Community Centre every Tuesday and Saturday from 10am to 12pm. Residents are encouraged to bring their own containers and take part in a simple, sustainable way to shop.
The team is also currently seeking donations of clean, empty spray bottles and 100ml travel-size bottles to help support the scheme. These can be dropped off at reception.
For more information, please visit the West Wight Sports and Community Centre website or pop along to a session to see the scheme in action.
