Wet Leg announces new album ‘Moisturizer’ with the release of ‘Catch These Fists’ music video (updated)

Last updated:

On Tuesday evening Isle of Wight band, and global sensation, Wet Leg, released the music video for the first single (watch below) from their second album, Moisturizer, which is due out on 11th July 2025.

Wet Leg founders, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, are joined once again by Ellis Durand (bass), Henry Holmes (drums), and Joshua Mobaraki (guitar, synth).

A tight, focused sound
The five-piece from the Isle of Wight have crafted an album that builds on the energy of their live shows and after a period of intense global touring, what the band have produced is a tight, focused sound. Their debut album brought them chart-topping success, Grammy and Brit awards, and more than half a billion streams. Judging by the fans’ reviews of songs filmed at recent gigs and posted to social media, the second album is sure to do just as well.

Staying true to their creative instincts
Rather than chasing commercial trends, Wet Leg have chosen to stay true to their creative instincts. All five band members have writing credits on the new album, after returning to work with producer Dan Carey and wrote the new album together in Southwold in March 2024.

Rhian said,

“We focused on: Is this going to be fun to play live?”

With Hester adding,

“We were just kind of having fun and exploring.”

You can pre-order the album across many formats, including vinyl, CD, cassette and streaming via the Wet Leg website.

Catch These Fists
To mark the new album announcement, Wet Leg have released the album’s lead single, Catch These Fists. The track features a driving bassline, sharp synths and heavy beats, with Rhian’s signature dry delivery.

The new single, Catch These Fists, was the first track played at last week’s secret gigs in Brighton and London (read OnTheWight’s report), as well as at the New York show on Monday night.

The video, filmed on the Isle of Wight and directed by the band, references horror films as well as their earlier video for Wet Dream which was filmed along in the same part of the Island.

Love songs, but not as you know them
The new album doesn’t shy away from difficult topics, with catch these fists addressing a tense encounter with a belligerent man. Other songs, like Mangetout, deliver barbed send-offs with lines like “get lost forever”.

Still, Moisturizer is mostly about love — in all its chaotic forms. The band describe Pond song as being “DEEP! IN! LOVE!!!!” and the album ranges from infatuated to obsessive.

With Moisturizer, Wet Leg sound sharper, more confident, and ready for the next stage in their journey. Long may it last!

[From a personal point of view, I wish they had stuck with British spellings, rather than US, but that’s just me being pedantic. Ed]

The band also performed the new single on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this week
