Wet Leg win Group of the Year and another BRIT Award

Less than a week since picking up two Grammy awards, Isle of Wight band, Wet Leg have walked home with not one, but two BRIT awards!

Picking up Best New Artist and Group of the Year, the duo, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, also performed their debut single Chaise Longue with their brilliant touring band of Island musicians, Ellis Durand, Henry Holmes and Josh Mobaraki.

There was huge support in the room from fellow musicians for Wet Leg’s performance and when collected their awards.

Bigging up the sisterhood
Rhian used the Awards to thank their label, Domino Records, as well as the all-women team who work on the production. Lava La Rue, who directed their Ur Mum music video was also responsible for the art direction of the magical stage setting when Wet Leg performed to the BRIT’s audience – which also featured some other Islanders hiding beneath the giant animal costumes.

Collecting the second award, bass player Ellis said,

“I promised Rhian I would say this, they build small ships, and they build big ships, but they don’t build friendships.”

Josh was muted on the recording for saying “F*** the Tories”, which got a huge reaction from the audience and was picked up by the Independent.
