One half of the Isle of Wight’s latest musical export, Wet Leg, appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour last week.
Fresh from what we hear was a fantastic gig at Bristol’s Trinity Centre the night before, on Friday morning Rhian Teasdale was interviewed by Woman’s Hour presenter, Anita Rani.
Anita opened the interview by setting the scene,
“You’ve set up a band with your best mate, and before you know it, your album is number one and you’re touring, this is my teenage dream, you’re living it!”
A deeper insight
In the ten-minute interview, Rhian speaks about the album, how the band were formed, the videos they had fun making during Lockdown and how at the age of 28, she, and fellow band-mate Hester Chambers, thought they were too old to be in a band.
Luckily for the millions of fans they have picked up around the World, the two talented artists for the Island persisted with their songwriting and saw their debut self-titled album, Wet Leg, rocket to number one in the UK album charts in its first week, as well as heading to the top spot in Australia too.
If you want to hear Rhian chatting with Anita, you can listen again via the BBC Sounds Website – Skip to 46:39 to hear it.
Interview with Absolute Radio
The band were also interviewed recently by Danielle Perry of Absolute Radio, which you can watch below.
Over the summer Wet Leg will be opening for Harry Styles in Australia, and in Spring 2023 they’ll be taking their fabulous music to Japan.
