Wight Aviation Museum welcomes Andrew Hall Jones as Spartan aircraft returns home

Last Saturday (18th Jan 2025) the Wight Aviation Museum Team had the great pleasure to welcome, Andrew Hall-Jones, the son of Rod Hall-Jones the current owner of the “Spartan 3 Seater” aircraft that WAM is bringing home to its “birth place” on the Isle of Wight from New Zealand.

Andrew who is with the New Zealand Defence Force and is just finishing his current “tour of duty” in Britain , wanted to visit the Wight Aviation Museum to see for himself and to reassure his father of the suitability for displaying the Spartan aircraft.

Andrew was shown around the museum by members of the WAM Team and was very impressed with what the WAM Team have achieved in just a few years. Andrew then presented the museum with a signed and dedicated copy of his father’s autobiographical book “You’ll never make it!”.

Hall-Jones: I’m sure it will be a very fitting place for the Spartan to be displayed
Andrew said,

“I am very pleased to see the Wight Aviation Museum is developing so well, preserving and displaying artefacts and exhibits from the very rich Isle of Wight aviation heritage.

“I am sure that it will be a very fitting place for the Spartan to be displayed.”

Blake: Really lovely to meet Andrew
Helen Blake, chair person of WAM said,

“It was really lovely to meet Andrew and to show him where the Spartan will be coming home to.”

Keep an eye on the WAM website for more information about the “Spartan Project” and also our Just Giving page raising funds for the “Spartan Project”

At the moment the museum is closed to the public for the winter season but will reopen in April 2025.
