Wight Blues Revue This Friday

All you blues lovers are in for a treat this Friday, as The Blues Room hits The Studio for the first time.

Wight Blues Revue This FridayThe cream of the Island’s blues talent will be showcased at ‘The Wight Blues Revue’, an event that will give you the chance to see some of the Islands top blues bands all on the same bill!

Headlining will be The Amen Boogie Blues Band. If you haven’t seen them before, they are a four piece harp and slide guitar led Chicago and Delta blues.

Their style encompasses Son House’s Death Letter to Elmore James’ Dust My Broom, and from Billy Boy Arnolds’ Wish You Would to Cyril Davis’s Chicago Calling. All good foot stompin’ stuff!

Next up on the bill is The Contra Blues Band who bring maximum R&B. Four very experienced musicians come together in this great blues band. Up tempo blues ranging from Muddy Waters to Peter Green. Watch out for their great version of the classic “Baby Please Don’t Go”. They’re sure to get the Studio rockin’.

If you’ve been to any of the Thursday night blues jams at The Castle Inn in Newport, then you might recognise some member of the The Castle All-Star Blues Band.

And finally, look out for Damien Paul who’ll be playing acoustic blues. Apparently he is a very talented singer too.

It’ll only cost you a fiver to get in and if it gets enough support it’ll be the first of what may become a regular event.

Door open at 8pm til late.
