Wight Sun sails home

Wightlink announces new 2024 sailing schedule for Isle of Wight journeys: More later crossings (updated)

Bookings have opened for Wightlink’s sailings to and from the Isle of Wight in 2024.

The ferry company has confirmed later evening FastCat foot passenger sailings between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier Head will continue to run all year.

In addition, later services will operate between Lymington and Yarmouth at weekends, following customer feedback.

Fastcat sailings
Islanders returning home late in the evening from Portsmouth Harbour can benefit from FastCat departures from the mainland at 21:45 and 22:45 throughout the year.

Yarmouth sailings
There will be later evening sailings between Lymington and Yarmouth at weekends, starting Friday 5th January 2024. This last ferry (21:05 from Lymington, returning from Yarmouth at 21:50) is scheduled on Fridays and Mondays all year.

There will be additional later sailings on Saturday and Sunday from the start of the summer timetable on Monday 25th March 2024.

5.30am switched to 6.05am
To accommodate the revised evening schedule, an extra crew of ten has been hired and from Tuesday 2nd January 2024, the first sailing from Lymington is 06:05 and the first sailing from Yarmouth is 07:00, seven days a week.

There has been consultation with Wightlink’s customers who usually travel at this time of the day.

Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield says,

“I am really pleased we have found a way to introduce later sailings between Yarmouth and Lymington at weekends to support people who live or work in the West Wight. This has been a frequent request from regular travellers.”
