This in from Wightlink, in their own words. Ed
Wightlink has extended its services between Yarmouth and Lymington to offer 24 extra later evening return sailings during summer 2014.
This follows feedback from Islanders and mainland customers.
We will monitor their popularity and they will serve as a pilot scheme for the possible scheduling of later sailings at other times.
Extra sailings
The extra sailings (22:05 from the mainland, 22:50 from the Island) will operate at weekends to coincide with school holidays, festivals and events such as the Old Gaffers Festival in Yarmouth.
Cancelled sailings
On these days, we had been proposing to operate the 07:20 from Lymington and 8:25 from Yarmouth.
To allow us to offer the later service, these will not now run. However, as we offer several alternative sailings at this time, this should not inconvenience customers.
Follows feedback from users
Wightlink first consulted with the Yarmouth Ferry Users Group regarding the 2014 timetable in October. Following this meeting and taking into account members’ views, several later evening sailings were added on a trial basis.
We have also consulted with Isle of Wight councillors and other relevant stakeholders.
The timetable is now available from Ticket Offices or on our website.
