Sporting opportunities representatives would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Wightlink for a truly memorable day spent celebrating the incredible support they provide for sporting opportunities and the Special Olympics community.
Thanks to Wightlink’s generosity, our athletes across a range of disciplines – including athletics, football, table tennis, swimming, multisport, cricket, and bowls – were proudly represented. The event was a joyful gathering of teams, volunteers, and supporters, united in recognition of how vital partnerships like this are in creating inclusive, life-changing experiences through sport.
Visit from Wightlink CEO
A particularly special highlight of the day was the visit from Katy Taylor, CEO of Wightlink.
Katy took time out of her schedule to come down to the track and meet with many of our athletes, coaches, and volunteers ( Gina Wyatt and Kathy Cordon).

Her warmth, genuine interest, and approachability made a lasting impression. She spent nearly two hours engaging with everyone – listening to stories, sharing encouragement, and taking in the atmosphere of positivity and community. It was truly a privilege to welcome her and to have the opportunity to express our appreciation in person.
Thanks also to Sam Woodman
We were also delighted to be joined by Sam Woodman, Wightlink’s Marketing Manager, whose ongoing support and enthusiasm for the Special Olympics has not gone unnoticed.
Sam’s presence helped to further highlight Wightlink’s continued commitment to inclusive sporting opportunities across the Island and beyond.
A day full of laughter, camaraderie and inspiration
It was a day full of laughter, camaraderie, and inspiration. Friendships were made, achievements were celebrated, and stories were shared from others who, like us, have directly benefited from Wightlink’s support.
Events like this remind us that community partnerships are about so much more than funding – they’re about connection, belief, and shared values. Wightlink has not only transported us physically, but also helped us move forward in spirit, confidence, and unity.
To Katy, Sam, and the entire Wightlink team: thank you. Your involvement means the world to us, and we look forward to continuing this meaningful journey together.
