Witness Appeal After Assault Reported In Sandown

Hampshire logoPolice are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an assault was reported in Sandown on the Isle of Wight.

It’s alleged a 28-year-old man from Havant in Hampshire was assaulted while standing outside the Tap pub in Avenue Road between 1.30am and 2am on Saturday, October 1, 2011.

The assault is alleged to have followed an argument between the victim and another man.

Serious facial injuries
The 28-year-old received serious facial injuries, which were not believed to be life threatening. He went to hospital for treatment.

Detectives are following several lines of enquiries within the local community, including information about several witnesses who were near the victim when the assault was reported.
