Witness Appeal After Man Receives Stab Wounds In Lake

Police TapePolice are investigating a report of an assault in Lake on the Isle of Wight where a man received apparent stab wounds to the stomach area.

Officers were called to Sandown Road near the Co-op store shortly after midnight on the morning of Monday, July 23, 2012.

Chest and facial injuries
The victim, a 38-year-old man from Ryde, was found with chest and facial injuries, which were not life-threatening. He went to hospital.

Appealing for any witnesses
Investigating officer Detective Constable Angela Gore of Isle of Wight CID said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this assault, which took place near the Co-op in Lake late on Sunday night. There were motorists driving along Sandown Road and they may have seen a man being attacked or any of the aftermath.”
