Witness Appeal After Woman Assaulted

Police TapePolice are appealing for witnesses after an assault was reported in Ventnor.

A 39-year-old woman from the Island has told officers she was assaulted by a man at an address in Trinity Road, and then further assaulted by the same man near an alleyway opposite a shop in Trinity Road at around 7pm on Friday, October 21, 2011.

The woman was not seriously injured, but was clearly upset by what happened.

Man arrested
A 43-year-old man from the Isle of Wight was arrested on Saturday, October 22, 2011 on suspicion of assault by beating. He was questioned at a police station, and bailed until November 1, 2011 pending further enquiries.

Police believe there was a group of parents and children near an alleyway in Trinity Road when this assault is reported to have happened.
