Work On Seaclose Park Grass Progresses

Those who went to the Isle of Wight Festival on the Sunday will remember bucket-fulls of rain falling from the sky.

Mud at Isle of Wight Festival 2011The land and drainage did its best, but with that amount of rain fall, it was really up against it. Unsurprisingly sections of the grass that make up Seaclose Park were transformed into liquid mud.

Directly after the event VB looked into how long it would take to get back to a usable condition. Answers from the council and Solo – the event promoter, responsible to returning the land to pre-event condition – were understandably vague, as they awaiting a proper inspection, once the Festival left site.

We’ve subsequently pursued updates.

‘Normal’ conditions
The state of the land is what is defined in the agreement between Solo and the council as ‘Normal’ conditions. This means works should be completed within six weeks of the event.

Updates
We understand from the council that the land has now been prepared and seeding is under way.

When we asked how long they anticipated it would take to get the council land back to a workable/usable condition, they told us (last week), “Around five weeks (ready for when when the main sporting calender starts).”
