Island Roads and the Isle of Wight Council have confirmed that work to re-open Belgrave Road in Ventnor will start on Monday, 29th September.
The first stages of the project will involve setting up the work site and clearing some of the smaller rocks.
Specialist teams will also begin installing a high-tension steel netting system designed to stop further debris from falling from the rockface.
Traffic management measures
To give the team maximum access to the site, temporary two-way traffic lights will be installed at the Alpine Road and Church Street junction.
Island Roads explained that this arrangement is necessary to allow work to progress safely and efficiently.
Timescales for re-opening
The plan is to re-open Belgrave Road to pedestrians by early November. Full access for vehicles will follow as soon as possible in the weeks after.
The project has been programmed for completion in December, subject to progress on site.
Regular updates promised
Both Island Roads and the council say they are committed to keeping residents fully informed. Updates will be issued as the work moves forward.
