Yar Bridge maintenance work won’t cut town off says Island Roads

After we published the upcoming roadworks alert from Island Roads this week, one reader got in touch querying the timing of the annual maintenance of Yar Bridge being at the same time as Tennyson/Bouldnor Road closures.

A3054 Bridge Road (at Yarmouth Bridge) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 3.30pm on approx. 2 days between Monday 17 March and Friday 21 March 2014 for the annual bridge service and maintenance by Mid–Anglia for Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

They were concerned that residents and visitors would have no way in or out of the town.

We got in touch with Island Roads for clarification and a spokesperson told OnTheWight,

Yar Bridge will be undergoing its annual maintenance work during the week commencing 17 March 2014.

For the majority of the time road and river traffic will not be affected, however there has been an allowance for 3 evenings within this week for temporary traffic lights on the bridge, if needed, between 6pm and 11pm.

We hope that helps clear up any confusion.
