Your chance to understand why the council’s coffers are under such pressure

A public meeting to discuss the Isle of Wight council’s budget situation takes place on Monday evening.

If you weren’t already aware, due to cuts in grants from Government, the Isle of Wight council have had to find £50m of savings over the last five years. In the coming 2016-17 financial year, they’ll have to find a further £17.36m, not to mention another 10m in 207-18.

So as you can imagine, deciding which services need to be cut is going to be a very difficult decision.

The council want to hear your ideas and are holding an online budget consultation which closes on 12 February 2016.

Where and when
The meeting on Monday (25th January) should help explain the situation and the challenges the council faces.

All are welcome to the meeting at Medina Theatre which kicks off at 6.30pm.

The Full Council will set the council’s budget for 2016/17 on 24 February 2016.
