Witness appeal after unprovoked attack on man in Newport

Sometime between 12.15am and 12.25am a 35-year-old man was assaulted by an unknown man described as short and in his 20s, outside of the mirror shop (Tomorrow’s Mirrors) in South Street.

The victim suffered a black eye and cuts to his nose.

Officers investigating the incident said:

“The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in full view of the William Coppins nightclub. It was a busy time with lots of people coming and going.

“The victim needed to be treated at St Mary’s hospital following the attack.
