Wight Cardiac Rehab takes over heart support services on the Isle of Wight

At an extraordinary meeting of the Heart Care Club on Saturday 20th April held at the Victoria Pavilion, Newport the members voted to disband the club, transferring all assets to the newly formed Charity, Wight Cardiac Rehab (Charity no. 1207254).

The Heart Care Club has been in existence on the Isle of Wight continuously since 1991 providing support to Island residents, currently facilitating 11 classes weekly at various locations across the Island led throughout by Lyn Smith. That support continues under the remit of the newly formed charity.

A facility for people with heart conditions
Wight Cardiac Rehab, like its forbearer, was established to provide a facility for people with heart conditions, particularly those recovering from heart attacks or heart surgery, and to improve and preserve the quality of their lives by continued support and guidance for themselves, their carers and their families.

Run by dedicated individuals
The Charity is run by dedicated individuals, professionals in their respective fields, and in many cases people who have experienced heart problems at first hand themselves in the past.

Understanding the needs, through their own experiences, allows them to provide a relaxed, supportive and friendly atmosphere in which people can pursue a structured exercise programme tailored to suit the individual’s requirements.

Charitable activities for the benefit of Islanders
The Charity will allow the pursuit of charitable activities for the benefit of people on the Isle of Wight with a diagnosed heart condition or who have experienced a cardiac event to return to health so as to be able to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.

The first of these charitable activities is a sponsored walk on Sunday 28th April.

Participants can be referred by their GP.
