Government to examine Navitus Bay windfarm plans

The BBC are reporting that the Government has accepted plans for the Navitus Bay windfarm for examination.

It might take the Government some time to review the application, because it’s a whopping 18,000 pages long. Apparently, they have just six months to complete the review.

Sir Michael Pitt the Planning Inspectorate chief executive said,

“We have decided on behalf of the Secretary of State that the application submitted by Navitus Bay Development Ltd met the required tests set out in the legislation to be accepted for examination.”

Challenge Navitus, a group formed to oppose the proposed windfarm, are urging residents to make the Government aware of their views of the proposal.

Registration for comments opens on Tuesday 13th May.

Compensation announcement
At the beginning of the week, Navitus announced they would provide compensation during construction works to those who use the stretch of water between the Isle of Wight and Dorset where the 194 turbines would be placed if the plans are approved.
