Book now for meeting on future of mental health services

This in from Healthwatch Isle of Wight, in their own words. Ed

Healthwatch Isle of Wight is an independent consumer champion which listens to Isle of Wight service users and carers who use local health services.

A large proportion of these Voices are calling for the urgent need to improve Isle of Wight Mental Health services and have a new vision which incorporates their views and expectations and this is why Healthwatch IOW has made Mental Health a priority for this year.

Listening to those who use the service
Over the last 12 months, there has been the start of working towards radical change in mental health services on the Island and a move to listening more to the service user, involvement of service users in design of services, stronger involvement of the voluntary sector and a move to a more collaborative and recovery based approach.

This event will explore the role of collaborative working between people who have used mental health services, the people who care for them and people who have experience by profession and the values that underpin a more collaborative approach.

Isle of Wight Recovery Partnership
The event will launch the Isle of Wight Recovery Partnership which is funded by Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group and My Life Full Life Programme (IOW NHS Trust) which brings service users and voluntary sector together so they have improved capacity to work alongside the NHS in improving the service user experience and pathways when in crisis.

Recovery is a personal journey for the individual and the event wants to celebrate a number of Isle of Wight Journeys of local people who have had to face and are currently facing the disabling effects of depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions.

By listening to these stories Mental Health Services can be re-designed to help others on their journeys.
