The National Recycling Awards recognise and highlight excellence and innovation in recycling and resource management, as judged by experts from across the industry. With 16 targeted categories, the awards cover every aspect of waste management and recycling in the UK.

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust came first in the Healthcare category, out of eight shortlisted organisations, including a number of large NHS Trusts.

Praised on several levels
The Trust was praised by the expert judging panel for its comprehensive reworking of the waste and recycling arrangements throughout the organisation, the smart use of a new commercial waste contract to provide value-for-money, an exemplary communications campaign, and innovative waste minimisation initiatives.

Charles Joly, Environmental, Waste & Sustainability Manager at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust says:

“The Trust is proud to have gained national recognition on this particular area of work. This is testament to the efforts of all our staff who thrive to reduce waste and recycle on a daily basis.

“We are also grateful to Biffa Waste Services on the Island who have supported us on this journey towards safe, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable waste management.”
