Body found off the Isle of Wight: Police launch investigation

Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed this morning (Monday) they are investigating the discovery of a body off the coast of the Isle of Wight.

The body of a man was recovered on Sunday (24 April) by the Bembridge Lifeboat after being spotted in the English Channel off the Isle of Wight between Sandown Pier and Whitecliff Bay by those on board a fishing vessel.

Police were alerted to the discovery about 5.50pm.

Unexplained death
Officers are in the early stages of an investigation into the death which at this stage is unexplained.
