Inspirational Music Movement to host Blues and Rock night

Tickets are on sale for a fundraising gig for the volunteer-led community project, AIMM (Aspire Inspirational Music Movement) based at the Aspire Community Centre in Ryde.

A great night of live music has been organised to take place on 6th May.

The event is a live Blues and Rock gig featuring three Island bands; Dreamer Joe, Confed Fred and headlined by Lewis Berry Blues Band.

Steve O’Keeffe who is helping promote the event told OnTheWight,

“The gig is being funded by Mike Reader, owner of Readers Interiors, Newport.

“Mike is kindly donating all of the ticket sales to buy much needed equipment to help complete the AIMM recording/ rehearsal studios.”

What is AIMM?
Steve went on to explain,

“AIMM, which is headed up by Jay (Jmo) Jamieson, is a local music project that gives those members of our community that are vulnerable or in need, friendly support, a place to play, write and produce music, socialise, be part of a group or just feel like they belong and are cared about.

“It caters for people in recovery from drug and/or alcohol abuse, people with poor mental wellbeing, people that have social difficulties or just people that need a shoulder to cry on.

“The whole AIMM team is also made up of such people, including myself and the project leader.”
