Marnie Marie triumphs in 2024 Wight Noize competition, set to open Isle of Wight Festival

Now in its 22nd year, Platform One have announced the winner of the 2024 Wight Noize competition. Marnie Marie and her band will be opening the mainstage at Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday 23rd June 2024.

The final took place last night (Thursday) at Strings Bar and Venue in front of a packed audience, who all came out to support the local artists.

The finalists had been shortlisted following an application with event partner Amplead and were chosen to perform a 20-minute set of original music.

Taking part
The acts included Ruby, Georgia Nicole, Chum?, Five Degrees North, Marnie Marie and Jaded. All of them were deserving of their spots in the final and put on a great show for those in attendance.

The highly experienced panel of industry judges watched each performance and then discussed as a group following the live showcase. Quality of songs and performance were just a couple of the defining factors in choosing the overall winner of the Wight Noize 2024 competition.

Booth: Judges all come at it from different angles
Andy Booth, Music Industry Liaison, Platform One, said,

“In all the years of running this competition, I don’t think I have seen such intense debate and discussion from the panel of judges.

“This just shows how important it is to have a wide variety of experience on the panel, from songwriters and producers to record label directors and publishers, they all come at it from different angles.”

Marnie Marie and her band
The winner was announced live onstage by previous Wight Noize Winners Beth Brookfield and Matt Read of The Optimists, who performed respectively in 2022 and 2023.

Marnie Marie and her band came out victorious on the night, having performed a powerful set of r&b infused pop songs. They then went on to perform a couple more songs to close what was a very successful evening.

Booth: An exciting opportunity
Andy Booth added,

“Opening the mainstage at the Isle of Wight Festival is an exciting opportunity.

“All the acts performed well on the night and there was such a mix of genres, but there always has to be a winner.

“I’m sure the other finalists will naturally be disappointed, but their chance will come. They need to keep going and not let this affect their desire to perform.”

Platform One Stage
All the finalists will be appearing at the Platform One Stage over the Isle of Wight Festival weekend. Platform One would like to thank Solo Music Agency and John Giddings for continuing to support local artists.

Marnie Marie will be opening the mainstage on Sunday 23rd June 2024.
