Message In A Bottle: Council Urged to Save Our Seaside

[Update: SOS wishes to point out that the Cheetah Marine development is immediately adjacent to the Paddling Pool, not as mis-reported by the CP as being on the pool itself. Also, criticism was of Ventnor Town Council not IWCC who have yet to make a decision].

My new mantra should be ‘better late than never, eh?’ What with the server switch, the site being down and lots of other stuff getting in the way, I’ve only now had a chance to put this one out.

Message In A Bottle: Council Urged to Save Our SeasideIt’s been a couple of weeks, but just incase anyone didn’t read the piece in the County Press or see the news item on Solent TV, I thought that I’d post it here.

A local resident who is behind the Save Our Seaside Campaign took advantage of the Council Cabinet roadshow visiting Ventnor on 6 March and presented leader of the council, Andy Sutton with a large bottle containing the message HELP!

As you may’ve read before, Save Our Seaside are working to raise awareness of the overdevelopment of Ventnor. They are urging the Council to sit up and listen to the views of a considerable portion of Ventnor residents, who are concerned about the level of development and destruction of the character that makes Ventnor so special.

Andy Sutton said he was really encouraged to see so many members of the Ventnor public at the meeting and the District Auditor said he’d never seen so many members of the public at an audit meeting before.

Watch the Solent TV Webstream here. The article is about one minute into the news.

By the way, Cheetah Marine’s planning application will be considered by the Development Control Committee on 24th April (6pm start) at County Hall. This meeting is open to the public and we had a lot of interest before, when we suggested organising transport to and from the meeting. If you’re interested, get in touch through the contact page or on the forum.
