Ventnor: Britain’s 7th Top Town According To Coast Magazine

Ventnor: Britain 7th Top Town: Coast MagazineYou may’ve heard it on IW Radio News this morning, but if you didn’t, Coast Magazine have just announced their top ten towns by the sea for 2008.

And guess which town comes in at No.7?

Yes folks you’re right, it is of course Ventnor, or better known by BBC Radio Solent as the New Centre of the Universe!

Ventnor, rightly so in our opinion, has received a great deal of coverage in the Nationals over the last few years, popping up in the Guardian on a fairly regular basis.

The June issue of Coast magazine is out in the shops now, so make sure you go out and grab your copy before they all get snapped up.

As Coast magazine states, “Ventnor scores as a vital part of the renaissance of the Isle of Wight.”

Clare Gogerty, Editor, Coast magazine, says:

‘Many of us dream of moving to the coast but don’t know where to look. Seaside towns, whether they are Regency resorts or small fishing villages have an irresistible pull. But which offer the best standard of living? We trawled banks of official data to come up with the top ten best coastal towns, rating them in terms of best schools, quality of coastline and employment. The results are not only helpful but surprising.’

So who is at the top you ask? Here’s the list in full.

1. CHRISTCHURCH, DORSET
2. FALMOUTH, CORNWALL
3. BRIGHTON, EAST SUSSEX
4. ST ANDREWS, FIFE
5. GRANGE-OVER-SANDS, CUMBRIA
6. SALCOMBE, SOUTH DEVON
