Tonight sees January’s Cabinet meeting take place at County Hall and given the agenda (details below), we suspect there may be a full public gallery.

What’s on the agenda?
Following the usual public question time, there will be a report from the Deputy Leader and the Cabinet Member for the Economy, Tourism, Leisure and Planning, Cllr George Brown.
Cllr Brown will be discussing the future of Ryde and Shanklin Theatres and making recommendations for closure (PDF).
Following this item, Dawn Cousins, the Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Social Care, Public Health and Housing will be presenting an assessment report on performance in Adult and Social Care 2008/09 (Paper D – PDF) and a report on Improving the Range and Quality of Family Fostering, Adoptive and Short Break Placements for Children and Young People (Paper C – PDF) – wow that’s a mouthful!
The penultimate item on agenda is sure to interest many of our readers who are interested in the school reorganisation.
Colin Peak, Director of Children and Young People, along with Council Leader David Pugh and Cllr Cousins will be discussing the Council’s application to the National Building Schools for the Future Programme and asking the Cabinet to vote on the recommendations made in Paper E (PDF) .
Finally Cabinet members will be asked to look at the Forward Plan (PDF) and vote on any necessary adjustments.
