Regular VB readers will be well aware of the series of Isle of Wight colloquialisms which we first started featuring on VB way back in June 2009.
The man behind the series, Mr Caulkhead, preferred to remain anonymous to us for a long time, but a few months ago, we eventually got to meet him in person for the first time.
We’ve been wanting to do an interview with Mr Caulkhead since he took a break from producing the Isle of Wight words back in July this year.
So we were chuffed to be able spend some time with him last week and just happened to have our recording gear with us too!
Where did it all start?
Mr Caulkead recorded and published his Isle of Wight words series through iPadio, a service that allows you to publish audio snippets from your mobile directly to a Website.
During the interview, Mr Caulkhead talks about why he started recording the words and telling us why he wishes to remain anonymous.
We discuss the great original illustrations produced to accompany the series by David Knight and the unfortunate attack on Mr Caulkhead made by CP columist Keith Newbery.
Confirming that the break will be over soon, Mr Caulkhead says he has plans to reinstate his Isle of Wight Colloquialisms in the near future.
Looking back, we’ve published 194 entries for Isle of Wight Words, so if you’ve never heard any of them, be sure to make the time to catch up.
Much more from Mr C. in the 13 minute interview, so grab a cuppa and put your feet up
